| ENVIRONMENTALLY- FRIENDLY MANUFACTURING |
GUT's first mission is to optimise the manufacturing
and recycling procedures to obtain the largest possible protection
for man and the environment. This starts with the materials used
for production which directly influence the discarding possibilities
at the end of the carpet's life-cycle.
The attention in manufacturing is also focussed
on the environmentally sensitive processes of dyeing and backing.
In the first case, the aim is to further reduce water consumption
and effluent pollution. In backing, research is continuing on low-emission
products.

| |
- Effective management of resources, raw
materials and production waste
- Control and reduction
- of air emissions
- of water consumption and effluents
- of energy consumption
- Ban on use of
hydrocarbons harmful to the ozone layer, PCP, formaldehyde, heavy
metals, etc.
| |
- Reduction of air emissions
by more than 50% since 1994 and more than 80% for specific substances
like styrene
| |
| |
- Reduction of water consumption
used for carpet dyeing, by more than 10% in the last 3 years
| |
| |
- Energy savings
doubled in the same period
